GFirst LEP Education Team

Our Education Team offer programmes and funded initiatives to Gloucestershire’s secondary schools that bridge the gap between education and business. There are a range of programmes that can be run in schools for a variety of year groups, to prepare young people for the workplace with the help and expertise of local business people.

Enterprise Advisers

Working with the Careers and Enterprise Company, the team place Enterprise Advisers in schools who work at a strategic level to develop an employer engagement plan. The team are always seeking forward-thinking professionals from the business community, who would like to match with a school to identify gaps in careers activity and support them in improving their provision. Schools participating in the Enterprise Adviser Network will be those that place meaningful encounters with employers at the heart of a young person’s education. Read more about becoming an Enterprise Adviser.

Mentoring Network

We coordinate a mentoring programme within Gloucestershire secondary schools. Funded through the Careers and Enterprise Company, mentoring is received by students who have been identified as at risk of disengaging in the run up to their GCSEs. Evidence shows that providing mentor support to young people at risk of disengagement can help to level the playing field. Interactions take place on a one to one basis, and over a sustained period of time (up to 12 months), in order for an effective level of rapport and trust to be achieved. If you are passionate about supporting a young person to achieve their potential, please get in touch to become a mentor. Similarly, if you are a school and feel any of your students would benefit from mentoring support, please contact us for details.
