Businesses in Gloucestershire are being encouraged to make the most of the valuable opportunities around the Hinkley Point C project, with practical advice and assistance on hand at an event on Thursday 25th October at Barnwood.
Speakers at the Introduction to HPC event will highlight the importance of Hinkley Point C to the Gloucestershire economy, as well as updating those present on the construction project and work packages available. With a particular focus on the construction, civils, mechanical and electrical sectors, they will provide information on the Hinkley Point C new build project plans and schedule, along with advice on how companies should prepare for the opportunities that will arise.
Organised by the Hinkley Supply Chain Team on behalf of the Hinkley Supply Chain Programme and EDF Energy, the event is the first in a potential series of activities in Gloucestershire to ensure that Gloucestershire businesses make the most of the support available and opportunities this project will bring. This event is funded by GFirst LEP, Gloucestershire’s Local Enterprise Partnership and will give an insight into available work packages and provide suppliers with business diagnostics, advice and tailored support on how to access the project linked to specific opportunities.
Hinkley Point C will require a wide range of capabilities, from precision manufacturers to mechanical, electrical and construction trades.
The huge project presents a real opportunity for Gloucestershire businesses and the engineering, manufacturing and construction skills base. Around 25,000 jobs will be created during construction and 900 permanent jobs during operation. The project will also bring long-term opportunities through the global supply chain for new nuclear power stations.
