GFirst LEP led the development of a Local Industrial Strategy for Gloucestershire.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE LOCAL INDUSTRIAL STRATEGY:

Following extensive engagement with Gloucestershire businesses and our partners in the public sector, and supported by an evidence base of nearly 300 submissions, we are pleased to share our draft Local Industrial Strategy.

Gloucestershire’s Local Industrial Strategy will build on recent success to drive inclusive growth and secure an economy fit for the future, which benefits everyone who lives and works in the county.

The strategy identifies Gloucestershire’s strengths, opportunities and challenges. It also aligns with the Government’s national Industrial Strategy, which focuses on five ‘Foundations’ for productivity, and four ‘Grand challenges’.

The five Foundations are:

  • Ideas
  • People
  • Infrastructure
  • Business environment
  • Places

The four Grand Challenges are:

  • Artificial Intelligence and data
  • Ageing society
  • Clean growth
  • Future of mobility

In order to achieve our goals, we set a plan in motion - this included our Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) and most recently our Local Industrial Strategy.

From the creation of these strategies combined with listening to the voice of business, we know that Gloucestershire will be home to even more world-class businesses and have a reputation for growing, attracting and retaining a diverse range of companies. The county will have the right skills and infrastructure to support business growth, and a reputation that attracts national and international companies to invest here.

In short, we’re making Gloucestershire the best place in the country for business.

Through our work, we’ve been able to provide funding for projects all over the county, working with a range of partners. From helping business start-ups get on their feet, building new educational facilities and improving our transport links, we’ve got Gloucestershire’s best interests in mind.

If you’d like to help us in strengthening the economy of Gloucestershire, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
