Gloucestershire Airport is getting ready for their Charity Open Day, which is to be held on Sunday 20th July from 11am until 4pm.

The airport have many special activities planned, with something for all the family to enjoy.  Weather permitting, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be conducting a flypast in their Hurricane and Spitfire.  There will be games, Airport Fire Service demonstrations, an aviation fancy dress competition for children and, for those that fancy something a little more adventurous, trial flying lessons and helicopter rides will be available.

Ballooning Network will also be operating an evening hot air balloon flight from the airport and anyone wishing to be on board is encouraged to get in contact with them.  Visitors will be treated to an aerobatic and wing-walking display courtesy of Tiger Airways, and the RAF and Army careers officers will be attending with careers stands and activities.

There will also be a free bus service running from the terminal building on the day for those who would like the diversity of seeing newer aircraft at the terminal and then going back in time to historic aircraft at the airport’s new Jet Age Museum.

For those interested in the daily operations at Gloucestershire Airport, staff will be on hand to answer any questions, Citywing and OSET Holidays will also be there to give information about flights and package holidays to the Isle of Man, Belfast and Jersey, which operate from the airport.

Entrance to the Open Day is free, although visitors will be asked to make a donation to the airport’s nominated charity fly2help.

Business Development Manager, Kim Davenport, said ‘I’m very much looking forward to welcoming the community back for our Charity Open Day. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see what we have to offer, with lots of fun to be had throughout the day.’
