Energy efficiency and renewable energy is a key strategic objective for GFirst LEP through the work of its Energy Sector Group. Represented by a diverse number of energy suppliers and related businesses, the Energy Sector Group has the remit to look at decarbonising Gloucestershire, increasing the energy efficiency of businesses whilst increasing productivity across the county.

Chaired by Paul Bolton, Managing Director of Severn Controls in Gloucester, the Sector Group has ambitious plans to raise awareness of the current technologies, renewable energies and energy saving measures that businesses can adopt to not only increase profit margins through reduced fuel bills but reduce their overall carbon foot print too at the same time.

Paul Bolton from Severn Controls said: “Most businesses are unaware of the simple measures and steps that businesses can take to support energy efficiency and renewable energy and quite often think that innovations are futuristic. The reality is that twenty-first century energy saving measures can be harnessed right now to create a more sustainable energy system and save significant money on fuel bills.”

David Owen, Chief Executive, GFirst LEP who will be speaking for the closing address said: “The aim of the sector group is to boost sustainable economic growth and create jobs in our local economy whilst ultimately reducing the overall carbon footprint in the county. This event is a brilliant opportunity for the business community to see at first-hand how they can achieve this.”

Working to reduce carbon emissions and to help reduce the effects of global warming, Vision 21 can offer advice and assistance to the business sector, councils, community groups and individuals to help them cut their CO2 emissions and also work as an agent to attract funding to develop environmental initiatives/projects.
