Tewkesbury Borough Council has welcomed a new mayor for 2014/15

Councillor Mike Dean was invested as Mayor of Tewkesbury Borough at a ceremony held at St Peter’s Church in Winchcombe on Tuesday, 6 May.

More than 180 guests welcomed the new mayor at the ceremony, including friends and family, as well as local dignitaries.

Mike’s wife Anne Dean is his mayoress and his chaplain is Rev. Partington from Winchcombe.

Mike, who was previously lived in Yorkshire until 1975, now lives in Stanley Pontlarge, which is within the area he represents as borough councillor.

Mike, who has been a councillor since 2011, said:  “I am honoured to be the Mayor of Tewkesbury Borough for 2014/15 and I am looking forward to the year ahead. I hope that my chosen two charities, the Cobalt Unit and The Royal British Legion, will receive a major profile through my efforts in supporting these causes.”

During his year, the mayor will be supporting Cobalt, a charity helping in disease prevention, research, treatment and diagnosis, and the Royal British Legion.
