World Leaders in the creation of artificial snow, Snow Business is delighted to have just been awarded an Innovation Voucher to undertake an exciting research project with the University of Gloucestershire.

The Innovation Voucher Scheme is designed for use by businesses throughout the south-west, for subsidised academic and research support. It is being offered to businesses by the University of Gloucestershire, drawing on European Regional Development funding.

Based in Ebley near Stroud, Snow Business has been creating artificial snow for the movie, television and entertainment industries for 30 years. Having worked on films including Day after Tomorrow, the last five Bond films and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the company will be using the opportunity to support further product development.

30 years on, since the company’s beginnings, Snow Business has continually innovated to keep itself at the forefront of the artificial snow business and has recently launched its new generation of falling snow equipment. Collaboration with the University’s School of Computing & Technology will see them together making further advances in the company’s equipment, helping them bring snow to many more places this winter, whatever the weather!

The Innovation Voucher Scheme is open to small and medium sized businesses in the south-west that have up to 250 full-time employees and an annual turnover below £40 million. It can subsidise up to 40% of project costs, up to the value of £10,000, offering a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to innovate, develop and grow.

Laura Crabb, Director of Business Development for the University of Gloucestershire, said: “We are excited to bring Snow Business on board with our Innovation Voucher Scheme. They are a perfect example of a forward thinking company, who we can support with this new scheme”.

Snow Business will be using the scheme to support their technical research and development. Founder, Darcey Crownshaw, said “It is very exciting to be able to work together with Gloucestershire University to push forward technological developments that will make our snow machinery, built in the UK, the most advanced and sophisticated in the world”.
