Chair of GFirst LEP, Dr Diane Savory OBE DL has appealed to the business community in Gloucestershire to pledge their support for a campaign for the A417 loop scheme to be included on the Highway Agency’s Route Based Strategy, in March this year.

Good news for the economy
David Owen, Chief Executive, GFirst LEP said: "Reflecting the Government's announcement today about GDP and growth in the UK economy, we are also seeing a continuing trend of a reduction in the number of unemployment claimants in Gloucestershire and this is a welcome sign that the local economy is showing strong signs of recovery.

GFirst LEP and BIS meet to drive exports and high level skills in the Business and Professional Sector in Gloucestershire
Creating high level skills, apprenticeships and exporting in the Professional and Business Sector is one of the Government’s key strategic initiatives for economic growth and one for GFirst LEP at a local level in Gloucestershire. To look at ways of stimulating growth opportunities in this sector that covers businesses providing professional services such as accountancy, law, architecture, education, engineering consultancy, management consultancy, recruitment, HR and media, representatives from GFirst LEP, the Department of Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) met earlier this week in a workshop session.

GFirst LEP meets with Greg Clark and Lord Heseltine to discuss transformational economic growth plans for Gloucestershire
Dr Diane Savory OBE DL, Chair of the GFirst Local Enterprise Partnership for Gloucestershire and David Owen, Chief Executive of GFirst LEP, along with key partners met with Greg Clark, Minister for State for Cities and Constitution and Lord Heseltine earlier this week to discuss the plans for transformational economic growth in Gloucestershire, as outlined in the draft Strategic Economic Plan that was submitted to Government in December.
